JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Accountant will support the finance function of a MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) rental company by handling day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month-end closing and compliance. The role involves working with multi-currency bank accounts, rental invoicing, supplier payments, fleet cost tracking, and VAT support. Experience with any accounting software is acceptable; familiarity with SAGE is an advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record daily financial transactions including receipts, payments, journals, accruals, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Perform bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts in different currencies (6 currencies).
- Identify and account for foreign exchange gains and losses.
- Prepare weekly cash and bank position reports.
Rental Revenue & Receivables
- Prepare and post rental invoices for MEWP equipment.
- Account for mobilization, demobilization, overtime, standby, and other charges.
- Maintain customer ledgers and monitor receivables.
- Prepare AR aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
Accounts Payable & Cost Control
- Record supplier invoices related to equipment, spare parts, fuel, transport, and maintenance.
- Verify invoices against LPOs, delivery notes, and service reports.
- Prepare payment vouchers and support bank payments.
- Track maintenance and repair costs by machine/fleet number.
Fixed Assets & Fleet Accounting
- Maintain fixed asset records for MEWP fleet.
- Record capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
- Support fleet cost and utilization analysis.
VAT & Compliance
- Assist in VAT calculations and VAT return preparation.
- Ensure correct VAT treatment on rental income and services.
- Maintain VAT schedules and documentation.
- Support VAT audits and regulatory queries.
Month-End Closing & Reporting
- Assist in monthly and yearly closing activities.
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, and expense schedules.
- Support management reporting and coordination with auditors.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- 2–4 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with any accounting software (ERP or standalone).
- SAGE experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Equipment rental or construction industry experience is an advantage.
- Multi-currency accounting exposure preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (PREFERRED)
- Valid UAE driving license.
- Willingness to travel within Abu Dhabi and to the Dubai office as required.
